WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR ACTION?
58 organizations, businesses, and tribes have joined together to urge stronger environmental protections for freshwater flows in the rivers that feed the San Francisco Estuary.
On Friday, July 6, the State Water Resources Control Board released its final draft water quality objectives for the lower San Joaquin River, its three major tributaries, and the southern Delta, and also released a proposed Framework for the Sacramento River and its tributaries, Delta eastside tributaries (such as the Mokelumne River), and Delta outflows (fresh water flowing into San Francisco Bay). These documents set the stage for all of the major river systems flowing through the Estuary.
A public comment period was open through July 27 for the final draft SED. Please see our comment letters on previous drafts to learn about both our commendations of and concerns with the plan.
The public comment period is now closed; the State Water Resources Control Board will re-convene on November 7 to consider adoption of the draft water quality objectives.
