MISSION
To protect, restore, and enhance the San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary, Friends of the San Francisco Estuary (Friends) assists in implementing the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), now known as the Estuary Blueprint. Friends carries out its mission through advocacy, education, outreach, and helping to integrate the various efforts in the estuary through information- sharing and collaboration to ensure the Estuary Blueprint is the guiding document for these efforts. Efforts include the following:
- Monitoring and reporting on implementation results and performance of the Estuary Blueprint, the blueprint to restore and maintain the integrity of the San Francisco Bay and Delta.
- Supporting the San Francisco Estuary Partnership’s work programs and goals.
- Providing environmental education activities to the public, concerning, but not limited to, maintenance and restoration of the San Francisco Estuary. Friends’ activities include teacher training, school programs, workshops, and distribution of reports, newsletters and other information materials.
- Providing technical watershed education and training; participating in on-the-ground habitat restoration partnerships; and assisting other environmental organizations by acting as a fiduciary agent.
